Eliza’s House is inviting all Main Street Businesses to take part in their, “Thousand Cranes for Peace” event. This event will mimic the true story and book, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. In Japanese legend says that folding 1,000 origami cranes grants the folder a wish. The title is “Thousand Cranes for Peace.” The origami crane has become a symbol of resilience, strength, and peace. In a world where hate, fear and divisiveness prevail, let us come together for our own Thousand Crane for Peace project. As you make the crane, reflect on what peace means to you in the world and in your life. You can even write your intention or message of peace on your cranes before folding them. Make one or ten or a hundred. Fold them by yourself or better, invite some friends to get together in a loving community and manifest some peace into this hurting world. Please drop off the folded cranes at Eliza’s House on 25 E. Franklin St. where we will string them and get them ready to display.
