Hadestown Teen Edition

Barbara Ingram School for the Arts presents their 15th Annual Spring Musical, Hadestown Teen Edition.

Adapted for young performers, this version of the Tony and Grammy award-winning musical features the same book, music, and lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell but with content adjustments suitable for a teen audience. The story follows the intertwining myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone, in a jazz-infused folk opera about love, industry, and hope. This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone – Hadestown invites audiences on a journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
