Muffled Voices Festival
On November 22, 2025, Lyrica Classic opens the second season of its acclaimed Muffled Voices Festival with the U.S. premiere of opera “Baruchs Schweigen” (Baruch’s Silence) by Ella Milch-Sheriff, one of Israel’s most celebrated living composers. Based on the composer’s father’s Holocaust diary, “Baruch’s Silence” is a one-act chamber opera that explores inherited trauma, intergenerational silence, and the delicate path toward healing.
This powerful story will come to life under the direction of visionary Russian stage director Elizaveta Korneeva, known for her work with the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Ural Opera, as well as the State Theatre of Hannover and Grand Théâtre de Genève.
A post-show reception will follow the performance, celebrating the festival’s American debut and opening of its second season, offering audience members a chance to meet the artists and production team.
The Muffled Voices Festival is a bold platform for staging rarely heard chamber operas by women composers. The festival was honored with the Global Recognition Award 2024 for its exceptional contributions to the classical music world, particularly in promoting underrepresented voices.
